Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt recently received the inaugural 2010 Puget Sound Association of Legal Administrators (PSALA) Achievements in Sustainability Award. Starting in 2010, the PSALA will recognize legal organizations that demonstrate excellence in business practices that promote social equity, economic growth and environmental benefits.

“It is very exciting to be one of the first law firms to achieve this noteworthy distinction,” said Mark Long, Schwabe’s managing partner. “To receive this kind of award is reaffirming, as Schwabe puts great effort into our numerous sustainability programs.”

The Achievements in Sustainability Awards are broken into two different categories: less than 50 attorneys; and more than 50 attorneys. Schwabe received the Achievements in Sustainability Award for the category of more than 50 attorneys firmwide.

Schwabe has a long history of creating a work environment that is supportive of sustainable business practices. Much of the firm’s sustainability programs relate to its approach to sustainable practices in energy conservation, water efficiency, waste reduction, alternative modes of transportation, purchasing practices and upholding green building practices.

The Puget Sound Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators is a professional organization comprised of managers from private, corporate and governmental legal organizations in the Puget Sound area. Selected organizations were honored with the Achievements in Sustainability Award at PSALA’s recent Managing Partners Dinner. PSALA realizes that firm size influences the scope of sustainability and sustainability initiatives. Therefore, PSALA will honor two firms each year – those with less than 50 attorneys and those with more than 50 attorneys.
