Steven Prewitt, a shareholder in the Portland office of regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, was recently appointed to the board of directors for the Oregon Bioscience Association (OBA).

“The Oregon Bioscience Association is a leading organization in our state’s growing biotechnology industry and I am eager to see Steven help support its mission,” said Mark Long, managing partner at Schwabe.

OBA supports the bioscience community through networking, educational programs, enterprise support, advocacy, and the enhancement of research collaboration.  As the collective voice for the bioscience community on behalf of Oregon’s bioscience companies, OBA is responsible for communicating the industry’s impact, issues and challenges to the public sector, educators and the general public.

Prewitt serves as the leader of Schwabe’s Intellectual Property and Patent Law practice group.  He focuses his practice in the preparation/prosecution, commercialization and enforcement of utility and design patents.  Assisting start-ups, established companies, universities, and other research institutions, Prewitt provides advice ranging from patent procurement and protection, to due diligence analyses, technology transfer, licensing, strategic planning/counseling, and enforcement.  Prewitt graduated from George Mason University School of Law with a juris doctor degree.
