Schwabe's President Joins Urban League of Portland Board

David F. Bartz, Jr., president at regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, recently joined the board of directors for the Urban League of Portland.

"I am very excited that Dave has taken on this new role with the Urban League of Portland," said Mark Long, managing partner at Schwabe. "This organization serves a vital role of promoting and preserving the civil rights in our community and I look forward to the contributions Dave is sure to make."

The Urban League of Portland is one of the region's most respected social service and civil rights organizations. It is a nonprofit, community-based organization headquartered in north Portland and is an affiliate of the National Urban League.

Bartz has a long history of supporting diversity in the legal profession. He serves on the Access to Justice Committee (Oregon Department of Justice) and was recently reappointed to the Affirmative Action Committee of the Oregon State Bar. In 2008, he was honored by Oregon Women Lawyers Association for his work in promoting women and minorities in the legal profession. Also in 2008, the World Arts Foundation presented Bartz with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work to advance the success of minority attorneys.

Bartz focuses his practice on the litigation of environmental and construction issues. He has extensive experience representing clients in court and before administrative agencies including U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Washington Department of Ecology and Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).
