Steven Prewitt, a shareholder in the Portland office of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, was recently named to the ranks of the Portland Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 class of 2012.

The “Forty Under 40 Award” recognizes individuals in the Portland, Ore., region under the age of 40 who have shown great accomplishments in their professional lives and who have made outstanding contributions to their communities. Additionally, Prewitt has been recognized multiple times by Thomson Reuters as a Rising Star in the field of intellectual property law, a distinction which identifies outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.

Prewitt is the founder and active member of Schwabe’s Intellectual Property Legal Clinic, which provides pro bono legal services to economically disadvantaged individuals and small/emerging businesses. In addition, he has served in a leadership role in a variety of professional organizations such as the Oregon Bioscience Association, the Licensing Executives Society, and the Association of University Technology Managers.

Prewitt is an experienced patent attorney and is the current practice group leader for the firm’s Intellectual Property and Patent Law practice group. He focuses his practice on the preparation/prosecution, commercialization and enforcement of utility and design patents. Prewitt graduated from George Mason University School of Law with a juris doctor degree.
