The Business Transitions Group at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt brings together a multi-disciplinary team of experienced exit planning attorneys to assist our clients protect, maximize, capture, and then keep the wealth that they have built in their closely-held businesses.

Working in conjunction with other succession planning professionals, we guide our clients through the sometimes bewildering business transition process to maximize value for themselves, for their family, for their philanthropic intentions, or their next entrepreneurial venture.

We work with owner clients and their other advisors to:

• assess the needs, objectives, interests, and condition of the owner, the owner's business and the owner's family;
• advise the client on strategies to protect the value that already exists in the business;
• help the owner strategically position his or her personal and business affairs to maximize and then monetize the equity value in his or her business;
• work with the owner to minimize the income tax consequences associated with the planned transition event;
• assist the owner in developing an estate planning strategy that is integrated with the business transition process and designed to minimize and provide liquidity to satisfy estate tax obligations; and
• work with the client's financial advisors to plan for the transition event and to diversify and deploy the proceeds generated from the transition event to realize the client's personal long-term goals and objectives - wealth maximization, pursuing a particular lifestyle, acquiring a new business, philanthropically, or whatever else the client values.
