Professional Experience Since joining Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in 1975, Bob Dayton has focused his practice in all areas of estate planning, including trusts, conservatorships, guardianships, probate, and charitable gifts. Mr. Dayton has advised numerous clients with multimillion dollar estates and has advised personal representatives and trustees on estate, tax and trust issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Dayton worked in the legal department of a major Oregon bank (1971-75), and in private practice in John Day, Oregon (1969-71), and served as law clerk for Justice Alfred T. Goodwin of the Oregon Supreme Court (1968-69). Professional & Community Activities Mr. Dayton is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estates Council (elected in 1990) and is listed in "The Best Lawyers in America" (trusts and estates). In addition, he has been named an Oregon Super Lawyer by Law & Politics magazine, a peer-elected distinction bestowed upon only the top 5% of all attorneys in the state of Oregon.
He is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Estate Planning and Administration Section of the Oregon State Bar and is a member and past president (1987-88) of the Portland Estate Planning Council. Mr. Dayton is a former member of the Board of Directors and the Foundation Board of the Oregon College of Arts and Crafts, and an emeritus member of the Robert W. Franz Cancer Research Leadership Cabinet at Providence Hospital in Portland.
