Professional Experience Sara Kobak's practice focuses on appellate law and general litigation, with a particular emphasis on employment and labor law matters. Since joining the firm, Ms. Kobak has participated in appeals before the Oregon Court of Appeals, the Oregon Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Kobak joined Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in 2005 after serving for three years as the judicial law clerk for Chief Justice Wallace P. Carson, Jr., of the Oregon Supreme Court.
During law school, Ms. Kobak clerked for the Oregon Department of Justice and also worked as a summer associate at Schwabe. She was a recipient of the Public Interest Fellowship for all three years of law school, as well as received Pro Bono Honors during her final year. She served as the Notes and Comments Editor of the Journal of Small and Emerging Business Law (now, the Lewis and Clark Law Review) and was a research assistant for Professor Henry Drummonds. Ms. Kobak also was awarded "Best Appellate Brief" in Legal Research and Writing, and was selected by the law school faculty for membership in the Cornelius Honor Society.
Prior to entering law school, Ms. Kobak worked as an advocate for families and individuals experiencing homelessness.
Professional & Community Activities Ms. Kobak is very involved in civic and community matters. She is an active member of Oregon Women Lawyers, the Gus J. Solomon Inn of Court, and the Multnomah County Bar Association. She also belongs to the United States Supreme Court Historical Society. In addition, she serves as a board member of Resolutions Northwest, Inc., the largest nonprofit mediation organization in the state of Oregon. Ms. Kobak maintains an active pro bono practice by volunteering with the firm's pro bono legal clinic.
