Professional Experience
Steve Bush joined Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in 2004, and focuses on health care and general ‎business law, and assisting Northwest wineries, vineyards and distilleries with business formation, ‎regulatory matters and transactions. In 2009, and 2011 through 2014, he was recognized as a "Rising Star" in ‎Oregon health care law by Law & Politics magazine. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bush was a product ‎liability and business litigator in Los Angeles.‎

In his health care practice, Mr. Bush advises physician groups and allied health providers in all corporate ‎and regulatory matters, including mergers and acquisitions, fraud and abuse, medical staffing issues, ‎HIPAA/HITECH and breach notification advice, physician contracting and employment, and navigating ‎the corporate practice of medicine doctrine. He has formed and currently advises a number of federally-‎certified patient safety organizations with a national scope under the 2005 Patient Safety and Quality ‎Improvement Act, and he continues to advise clients on patient safety, health IT and peer review issues.‎

Mr. Bush serves as an Adjunct Professor at the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland. He is a ‎regular speaker on the West Coast and gives MCLE seminars to attorney groups in Oregon and ‎Washington on HIPAA, peer review and PSOs, and on attorneys' obligations as mandatory reporters of ‎child abuse. He frequently presents to health care providers on HIPAA/records law, the Patient Safety ‎Act, medical/legal ethics and general health care law at Oregon Health & Science University and ‎throughout the Northwest medical community.‎

When not practicing health care law, Mr. Bush works with new and established distilleries, wineries, ‎vineyards, custom-crush facilities, as well as with other alcohol industry service providers in the Pacific ‎Northwest. He has assisted clients with alternating proprietor and custom-crush arrangements, ‎labeling/trademark issues, complex transactions, licensing matters and business disputes. Mr. Bush ‎advises clients in the Willamette Valley, Southern Oregon and the Columbia Valley and speaks at wine ‎industry seminars and events.‎

Professional & Community Activities
Mr. Bush is a member of the Oregon, California, and Washington State Bars and is a Fellow of the 2008 ‎Oregon State Bar Leadership College. He is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association ‎and the Health Law Section of the Oregon State Bar, where he formerly served on the Executive ‎Committee.‎

Mr. Bush volunteers significant time as the Co-Chair of the Southwest Portland Parent-Child Collective ‎Preschool, and most recently designed and implemented a Certified Backyard Habitat garden for the ‎school. He also contributes significant pro bono attorney time, most recently on major projects with the ‎Essential Health Clinic in Washington County. When Mr. Bush is not lawyering or volunteering, he is ‎traveling the Pacific Northwest with his toddler son in search of steam locomotives‎
