Professional Experience Since joining Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in 1984, Carmen Calzacorta focuses her practice in the area of corporate law, with an emphasis on securities law compliance, corporate finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and general business advice. Ms. Calzacorta is a member of the firm's chairs council and a former co-practice group leader of the firm's general business group.
Ms. Calzacorta serves as outside corporate counsel to public and private companies, including Columbia Forest Products, Inc.

Professional & Community Activities Ms. Calzacorta is a member of the Business Law and Securities Sections of the Oregon State Bar, and a member of the Corporate, Business & Banking Section of the Washington State Bar Association. She is a member of the Business Law Section and various business subcommittees of the American Bar Association.
Ms. Calzacorta currently serves as a board member for Friends of the Children, SOLVE and Associated Oregon Industries (AOI) and she serves as co-chair of the Large Firm committee of the Campaign for Equal Justice. She is also a member of the Arlington Club. In 2011-2012, she served as the chair of the advisory group on the State of Oregon Governor's Regulatory Streamlining and Simplification Project.
In 2011, Ms. Calzacorta was honored with the John L. Schwabe Client Service Award, which annually recognizes an attorney in the firm who goes "above and beyond" in his or her dedication and service to firm clients. Recipients of the award are nominated by their colleagues and then selected by the firm's Client Service Committee.
In 2005, Ms. Calzacorta was selected as one of The Business Journal's Orchid Award Winners for outstanding civic and business accomplishments. The Orchid Award is The Business Journal's annual recognition of 25 women from the Portland business community who have shown extraordinary leadership and accomplishment over the past year.
Ms. Calzacorta is a former chair (2000), chair-elect (1999), treasurer (1998) and secretary (1997) of the Executive Committee of the Oregon State Bar Business Law Section. Ms. Calzacorta is also a former board member of the Oregon Women Lawyers Association and the Executive Committee of the Oregon State Bar Securities Section. She was a member of the Oregon State Bar Insurance and Bar-Sponsored Benefits Committee (1991-1992), the OSB State Lawyers Assistance Committee (1994-1997), and the Multnomah Bar Association Committee on Professionalism (1988-1989).
Ms. Calzacorta is a former member of the board of directors of the Astra Society International, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to women in business, the board of directors of the Foundation for Women Owned Businesses, a nonprofit corporation and the Oregon Entrepreneurs Forum, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to assisting Oregon entrepreneurs.
Ms. Calzacorta has spoken at the Northwest Securities Institute, National Investors Relations Institute, the KPMG/NACD Audit Committee Institute, and at OSB, OWL, Multnomah Bar, and other seminars.
