Professional Experience
Johnathan Mansfield is a shareholder in the firm's Intellectual Property and Patent Law practice group, focusing on intellectual property litigation and advice, including patent, trade secret, trademark, copyright, and other intellectual property matters. He is also the head of the firm's document retention and electronic discovery practice.

Mr. Mansfield has had extensive litigation experience involving a variety of hardware and software technologies, and has litigated in numerous federal and state courts and in the International Trade Commission, at both the trial and appellate level, and in arbitration. He is known for his advocacy skills, in particular, for his ability to help judges and juries understand complex technical issues. He has also helped large and small companies plan for and execute efficient document retention and electronic discovery systems.

Mr. Mansfield is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Lewis & Clark Law School, where he co-teaches the Patent Litigation course. In 2009, he was named an Oregon Super Lawyer by Law & Politics magazine for his work in intellectual property litigation. This peer-elected distinction is bestowed upon only the top 5% of all attorneys in the state of Oregon.

Before joining Schwabe, Mr. Mansfield practiced intellectual property litigation with Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco. After graduating from Cornell Law School (magna cum laude, Order of the Coif), Mr. Mansfield clerked for the Honorable Conrad K. Cyr, United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, in Maine. He was an Articles Editor for the Cornell Law Review.
