Al AuYeung is a senior member of the firm's Intellectual Property, Hi-Tech, Climate Change and China practices.
Professional Experience He has almost two decades of experience counseling domestic and foreign hi-tech clients, and in recent years, pollution prevention and energy efficiency (P2E2) technology clients on Intellectual Property (IP) and related matters, in particular concerning Patents, Global IP Strategy, and International Business. Before that, Mr. AuYeung spent over a decade in the Information Technology Industry as an engineer, development and product manager, where he developed and led development of software products for high end computer systems.
Mr. AuYeung regularly counsels clients on IP strategy, portfolio development including prosecution and acquisition, freedom to operate, design around, infringement exposures, validity of third party IP, licensing, and enforcement. He also regularly counsels clients on protecting IP in China.
Mr. AuYeung's hi-tech and P2E2 technology clients include multinationals as well as emerging companies, domestic and overseas, including technology companies in Europe and Asia. The technologies of these companies span from microprocessor to field programmable gate arrays, hard and soft IP cores, volatile and non-volatile storage devices, platforms, networking devices of various levels, wireless and mobile networking, ciphering/deciphering, encoding/decoding, streaming, multi-media, online games, imaging, air quality, photovoltaic, and waste-to-energy.
Mr. AuYeung was an Adjunct Professor and taught Patent Law and Policy at Lewis & Clark College, Northwestern School of Law in 2001-2002. Professional & Community Activities Mr. AuYeung is a member of the California, Oregon and Washington Bar Associations. He is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, Licensing Executives Society, and Washington State China Relations Council.
