Richard K. Hansen
Download vCard (Richard K. Hansen, Portland)
Since beginning his practice over 25 years ago, Richard Hansen's main focus has been trying lawsuits. With over 50 jury trials as lead counsel, Mr. Hansen's experience is hard to find in these days of ADR and arbitrations. Whether his clients' matters are in state or federal court or whether the issue is a complex business dispute or an allegedly defective product, he has the experience and the confidence to take the case to verdict. Working with a team of skilled lawyers, he seeks to resolve the case in the most advantageous manner for his clients. However, his eye is always on the possibility of trial, thus enabling the client to be fully comfortable that, should a settlement or other resolution not be reached, the matter will be ready for trial.
Representative examples of the matters he has tried include:
Douglas County Medical Center v. Mercy Medical Center. Successfully defended Mercy Medical Center in a $47 million claim that it had intentionally interfered with the business of the competing hospital, allegedly resulting in the plaintiff's closure.
Wooten v. Ford Motor Company. Successfully defended Ford on an allegation of defectively designed seat alleged to have caused significant personal injury to plaintiff.
Precision Castparts Corporation v. E. I. DuPont de Nemours. In an action seeking an injunction against DuPont, the parties were able to resolve their differences during trial in a creative business resolution.
Vaught v. Ford Motor Company. On a claim of a defective airbag resulting in serious personal injuries, obtained a defense verdict on behalf of Ford.
