Professional Experience
Kurt Hansen represents physicians, dentists, optometrists, nurse practitioners and other medical providers in Oregon and Washington in practice purchases, affiliations and employment relationships. He also represents medical providers with matters before licensing boards and medical staff. He has helped hospitals and medical practices in joint ventures including surgery centers, imaging centers and pain management practices. Mr. Hansen has counseled hospitals in six mergers, all of which were successful. He also advises medical practices in regulatory compliance including fraud and abuse, Stark, insurance and HIPAA matters. Mr. Hansen serves as the General Counsel of the firm.

Professional & Community Activities
Mr. Hansen is a member of the Oregon Health Lawyers Association and was its President for 1991-1992. He is past Chair of the Health Law section of the Oregon State Bar and a member of the Washington State Bar Health Law section. He is also a member of the Washington State Society of Healthcare Attorneys. He is a member the Health Law section of the American Bar Association and the American Health Lawyers Association.

Mr. Hansen is a frequent speaker on medical regulatory issues, and has served on the combined Boards of Trustees of Emanuel Children's Hospital Foundation/Emanuel Medical Center Foundation/Good Samaritan Foundation. He is currently Board Chair for the Legacy Emanuel Hospital Foundation Board. He is a member of the Business and Corporate Law sections of both the Oregon and Washington State Bar Associations.  He is Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Oregon State Bar (OSB), and is a former member of the OSB Unlawful Practice of Law Committee and the Local Professional Responsibility Committee for Multnomah County.

Mr. Hansen was an Adjunct Professor of Law (Health Law) at the University of Oregon Law School from 1995 through 2001.  He is also a member of the Alumni Board of the University of Oregon Law School and served for a number of years as the co-chair of the Frohnmayer Public Service Award Dinner Committee.

Mr. Hansen was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, and retired as a Captain after thirty-four years of active and reserve duty as a surface warfare officer including mobilizations for Operation Iraqi Freedom totalling two years. He deployed as Commander, Task Group 55.5 (Naval Coastal Warfare). His personal awards include the Legion of Merit.
