Matt Turetsky is in the office at the crack of dawn, every day. He thrives on being an accessible and candid legal advisor to his clients. Nearing 19 years as a commercial litigator, he has led teams of lawyers, paralegals, and staff in significant and complex litigation. He also handles more straightforward matters. Clients appreciate his collaborative approach, work-up with other professionals, and strategic positioning to efficiently resolve litigation while achieving their goals.
Matt's practice focuses on cases involving complex business disputes, lender liability, consumer protection and consumer product liability, and class actions. He has tried cases to verdict in the Superior Courts of Washington and Federal Court—jury and bench trials—and arbitrations.
Professional Experience Matt represents financial institutions against claims by lenders and consumers involving lender liability, trust litigation, automated clearing house (ACH) transactions, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Credit Billing Act, Articles 3 and 4 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), and consumer complaints to the Washington Department of Financial Institutions. He also assists banks and other creditors with debt collection and workouts of commercial and real estate loans.
His practice includes defending businesses in litigation brought by consumers. He assists his clients in responding to civil investigation demands (CID) by the Washington Attorney General's Office, and against allegations of consumer protection act violations by the Consumer Protection Division. He has worked extensively for clients in the direct selling and fitness industries.
Matt also represents individual and entity clients in complex breach of contract actions, including contracts for the sale of goods under the UCC.
Interests Matt swims and bikes with his kids, enjoys spending time with his wife, at his daughter's piano recitals and his son's sporting events. Matt is Husky fan and a die-hard Mariners' fan.
Community Activities Commitment to his community and his family shows through his volunteer work. Matt is on the Board of Directors, and chairs the Governance Committee, of YouthCare, a non-profit agency providing a continuum of services for homeless youth ages 12 to 24. Matt also serves on the Board of Directors for the Stroum Jewish Community Center, a non-profit agency dedicated to the enrichment of life for the Jewish and general community in the greater Seattle area.
