Professional Experience
Dan Knox began his career as a trial lawyer with Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in 1978. A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, he has tried well over 100 cases to conclusion. His practice is a varied one, emphasizing construction litigation (on behalf of owners, developers, and design professionals), general commercial litigation, and defense of maritime claims of all types. Mr. Knox heads the firm's commercial litigation practice group, which is comprised of over thirty attorneys.

On construction-related work, his recent assignments include numerous large multi-party construction defect claims, multiple claims involving landslides and allegations of structural insufficiencies, as well as delay, cost overrun and "impact" claims on a wide variety of private and public projects. The assignments may involve multi-family housing, office structures, medical facilities, or virtually any public improvement, from schools to reservoirs, dams to bridges, roads, and public offices. Mr. Knox additionally represents business interests in commercial disputes.

On the maritime side of his practice, Mr. Knox represents Northwest tug and fishing interests, as well as the west coast's leading tanker operator, along with many marine and non-marine underwriters on both first- and third-party claims. His maritime practice includes marine-related commercial disputes.

Professional & Community Activities
Mr. Knox is a former Air Force officer. He is a member of the Maritime Law Association. He is a frequent speaker and writer on topics of general interest to the construction industry and design profession, and additionally on topics related to the marine and marine insurance industries.
