This month, regional law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt announced that it will renew its lease at the iconic PacWest Center in downtown Portland.
"The PacWest Center is a premier building with top-notch Class A office space in the heart of downtown Portland," said Mark Long, Schwabe's managing partner. "The landlord has been a pleasure to work with, and we feel that this was absolutely the best decision to make for the firm."
Schwabe has operated its Portland headquarters from the PacWest Center since 1984. With more than 120 attorneys serving clients all across the Portland-metropolitan area, Schwabe will occupy approximately 100,000 square feet in the PacWest Center.
The firm, with the assistance of Dan Swift, a senior director with Cushman & Wakefield, considered a number of options in the market before committing to the long-term extension at the PacWest Center. A factor that weighed heavily on the decision to extend the lease was the building has the needed space that, over the long run, will allow the firm to continue to grow and attract the top legal professionals across a wide array of practice areas.
"Our landlord, PacWest Center, LLC, represented by Langley Investment Properties, went to great lengths to retain Schwabe's presence at the PacWest Center," said Rob Burton, Schwabe's chief operating officer. "The entire management team at Langley has been good to work with throughout this process and we know that our decision to stay was the right one."
The lease renewal allows the firm to remain at the PacWest Center for another 10-plus years. Schwabe plans to make significant interior improvements to update its current design and to make the space considerably more efficient and flexible. The space also is being designed to incorporate a number of sustainable functions that fit with the firm's commitment to being a leader in the sustainable practice arena.
The PacWest Center is located at 1211 S.W. Fifth Avenue in downtown Portland.
