Jeff Bird, a shareholder in the Portland office of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, recently earned the prestigious Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) credential from the Exit Planning Institute (EPI), joining more than 131 other certified exit planning professionals worldwide. Bird was one of only 32 professional advisors to earn the CEPA credential this year.
To earn the CEPA credential, candidates must satisfy professional experience and education requirements, attend a rigorous five-day executive-MBA-style educational program, complete 100 hours of self-study, and pass a 3.5-hour written examination. Once earned, the certification must be renewed every three years through additional studies and leadership activities. The Exit Planning Institute is the premier provider of learning, knowledge, and future-oriented research for exit planning professionals. EPI delivers innovative learning experiences, performance-enhancing resources, and strategic tools designed to advance the exit planning profession.
Bird is a core group member of Schwabe's Business Transitions Group. He has more than 25 years of experience assisting clients with complex business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, tender offers, proxy contests, divestitures for public and private companies, corporate finance, securities law and venture capital transactions. Bird is chairman of the board of Business for Culture and the Arts and is a board member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Northwest Chapter, and chairman of the Portland Advisory Board of NACD's Northwest Chapter.
