Sustainability
"The time has come to dispel the notion that being green is bad for business. If saving the planet isn't reason enough, there's another incentive for companies to contribute to sustainable development - it will boost productivity and ultimately profits."
Bob Willard, The Sustainability Advantage

At Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, we are ardent admirers of the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. We are grateful to live and work amidst its streams, rivers, mountains and trees. We appreciate the clean air and water, the abundant plants and wildlife as well as the striking territorial views. But, more than anything, as a socially-responsible business, we know that we cannot take this beauty for granted.

Today, the team at Schwabe is increasingly mindful of the impact that our ecological footprint has on the local – as well as global – environment. We understand that what we do collectively as a firm to become more sustainable can have a tremendous impact – both on the world and our business. The concept of sustainable business is one that we strive for on a daily basis, as we work to balance people, profits and planet. Collaborating with such leaders as Axis Consulting and Oregon Natural Step, we are learning how to walk with lighter steps.

Schwabe is actively working to become greener. We recycle 5,200 pounds of paper per month and purchase recycled products whenever possible. We work with suppliers who use minimal packaging and we encourage the use of mass transit and alternative forms of transportation. When possible, we archive files electronically to reduce paper use. And, we have lessened our energy use by installing lights that shut off when no one is in a room and by encouraging employees to turn off computer monitors at the end of the day.
