Where There's Smoke…Oregon Recreational Marijuana Legislation and the Workplace
Overview

Oregon voters passed Measure 91, which legalizes the use of recreational marijuana to individuals over twenty-one years of age. Oregon employers, especially those in the manufacturing industry, must understand how this new measure affects their workforce so that they can continue to operate in a safe and reasonable manner. Jean Back, a labor and employment attorney at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, and a member of the OMEP board of directors, will conduct an hour long webinar for OMEP members to outline an employer's rights and responsibilities with respect to their employees' recreational use of marijuana.
This one hour webinar will include the following topics:
- What Measure 91 regulates and what it does not regulate
- The impact of Measure 91 on Oregon employment policies and practices, including:
- Drug testing issues
- Drug testing policies
- Driving policies
- Off-hour use
- Accommodation of use
- Suggestions for policy review/update.
Please put this webinar on your calendar so that you can ensure that your workplace is ready for the legalization of marijuana, which will occur in July 2015.
