Family Business Succession Planning Event Features Fall Creek Farm & Nursery

June 2, 2015

Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt and Moss Adams LLP host educational seminar

Best practices for transitioning a family business is the topic of "Preserving the Family Legacy," an event being hosted by Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt and Moss Adams LLP. Two generations of a globally thriving family business based in Oregon, Fall Creek Farm & Nursery, Inc., will share their story.

Dave and Barbara Brazelton (first generation), along with Chelsea Brazelton and Amelie and Boris Aust (second generation), will discuss the proactive and early steps they took to ensure a proper succession plan was in place, and how the second generation plays a key role in the day-to-day operations and strategic planning for ‎the future at Fall Creek Farm & Nursery‎‎. The seminar will also include a best practices discussion by Carmen Calzacorta, chair of Schwabe's Business Transitions Group, and Rich Thornton, firm director of wealth services implementation for Moss Adams.

"The early planning required to transition a family business to a new generation of owners is critical to maintaining the company's health and continued growth," said Carmen Calzacorta. "Fall Creek is a great success story from which other family business owners can learn how to prepare for that next stage of family ownership‎."

Established in 1978, Fall Creek is the world's largest blueberry nursery stock provider. The company has grown from a 25-acre farm in Lowell, OR to include three additional state-of-the-art plants encompassing more than 100 acres located across the U.S. Both generations of the Brazelton family are active in Fall Creek's operation.

The event takes place on Tuesday, June 16 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the office of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, Pacwest Center, 1211 S.W. 5th Avenue, Suite 1900. Reservations are requested but not required and can be made by calling (503) 478-2317. There is no cost to attend.
