Schwabe Strengthens Technology Group with Addition of Cray, Inc. Alumna Ruby Hou Alexander
We are pleased to announce that Ruby Hou Alexander has joined Schwabe’s Seattle office.
Ruby spent the last seven years at Cray Inc., where she gained an insider’s understanding of how business-minded strategic legal advice supports and guides a growing technology company.
She joined Schwabe to be part of the firm’s industry focus and commitment to innovation, explaining, “I see a critical need for legal services that are innovative and sophisticated, and I bring a practical approach to problem solving gained through years of being on the industry side.”
“Our clients compete globally in an incredibly dynamic market, and the array of competitive, regulatory, and technological challenges they face is incredibly complex,” said Brenna Legaard, Technology Industry Group Leader at Schwabe. “Clients faced with challenges need strategic advice about what they should do, not a laundry list of things they could do. And they need it from someone who really understands the context. That is why we are so excited to welcome Ruby to the firm. She gets it because she’s been there.”
At Cray, Ruby most recently served as Associate General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary. Previously, Ruby worked at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York and at a large firm in Seattle. Her areas of expertise include, but are not limited to:
- Business and corporate
- Corporate formation and governance
- Securities and finance
- Merger and acquisitions
Ruby received her Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School where she was on the Minnesota Law Review, and she received her Bachelor of Arts from Carleton College. She is admitted to the Washington and New York Bars.
