Governor Inslee appoints Averil Budge Rothrock to King County Superior Court
Washington Governor Jay Inslee
Gov. Jay Inslee today appointed Averil Budge Rothrock to King County Superior Court. She replaces Judge John H. Chun, who was recently appointed to the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division 1.
For 25 years, Rothrock has worked in a complex civil litigation practice at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in Seattle, focused on civil appeals in state and federal court, and a complex motion practice in the trial courts.
She is a trustee with the King County Bar Foundation. She served as a member of the Washington State Bar Association Rules Drafting Task Force, acting as chair of the mediation subcommittee. Rothrock provides pro bono volunteer legal services to the ACLU of Washington, Grandmothers Against Gun Violence, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
“Averil has a strong and abiding commitment to justice. Her dedication to serving her community is further demonstrated by her years of volunteer advocacy and pro bono legal work,” Inslee said. “She has a strong reputation as credible, respectful and collaborative.”
