Schwabe Promotes Three Attorneys to Shareholder, Strengthening Industry Focus

PORTLAND, Ore. (March 8, 2021) – Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt P.C. announced today that Rebecca Boyette, Amanda Loupin-Bartlett and Jonathan Ward have been named shareholders at the firm. These attorneys collectively practice across Schwabe’s Healthcare and Life Sciences; Natural Resources; Manufacturing, Distribution and Retail; and Technology industry group focus areas. Their promotions today showcase how Schwabe is advancing its leading focus within these industries by recognizing accomplished attorneys who are committed to their clients’ business, industry and goals.

Rebecca is part of the Healthcare and Life Sciences and Manufacturing, Distribution and Retail industry groups and helps clients navigate the bumpy road of employment law. She advises on day-to-day issues such as employee handbooks, leave laws, discipline and terminations. Amanda provides practical business advice to companies of all sizes and stages, ranging from start-ups and local family-owned businesses to large multinational corporations. She is a member of the firm’s Natural Resources and Technology industry groups. Jonathan, who is part of the Manufacturing, Distribution and Retail, and Technology industry groups, helps companies and individuals in the technology sector secure valuable IP rights for their innovations. He focuses on preparing and prosecuting patent applications directed to hardware and software innovations, including embedded systems and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Whether crafting employment policies for a small dental practice, advising a large food distribution company on complex employee leave laws or zealously defending a surgical practice in a whistleblower lawsuit, Rebecca will customize her approach to reach clients’ goals and respect their budgets. When necessary, she defends clients in court and before state and federal agencies in claims involving discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, family and medical leave, and disabilities.

Amanda Loupin-Bartlett

Amanda devotes a substantial portion of her practice to representing lenders and borrowers in connection with revolving lines of credit, term loans, refinancings and other commercial debt transactions. Her experience in mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, corporate governance, and entity formation and organization allows her to help achieve specific and long-term goals throughout a business’s life cycle. She also regularly advises technology-related trade organizations, providing formation, development and ongoing general counsel services.

Jonathan Ward

Technology 

With experience in both litigation and transactional settings and a background in computer science, Jonathan helps companies and individuals in the technology sector secure valuable IP rights for their innovations. His broad legal background includes litigating insurance defense cases with a general practice firm, handling both patent prosecution and IP litigation with a regional IP boutique firm in Portland, and negotiating technology-related contracts and advising on IP and procurement-related issues on behalf of the State of Oregon. Jonathan’s varied experience helps him recognize and anticipate issues during prosecution that could arise down the road.
