Peter E. Heuser

For the past 40 years, Peter Heuser has been an intellectual property lawyer, focusing his practice in the areas of patent prosecution and litigation of patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret matters in federal and state court and in the International Trade Commission. He has represented clients in inter partes review procedures in the Patent and Trademark Office, and has successfully taken many cases through trial as a first chair litigator. A Registered Patent Attorney and trained mechanical engineer, Pete is often retained as an expert witness in intellectual property cases, and was recently ‎named Best ‎Lawyers’ Portland Lawyer of the Year – Patent Litigation (2017).

‎ Ever since the Federal Circuit was established over 30 years ago to handle patent appeals, Pete has closely followed its decisions. To further the best in his profession, Pete writes, with help from Schwabe colleagues, a weekly newsletter for patent attorneys throughout the country, reporting on every precedential patent case decided by the Federal Circuit.
