Al AuYeung

Overview

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our dear friend, Al AuYeung. Al was a beloved Schwabe Shareholder for over 20 years. Not only was Al profoundly intelligent, but he was also kind, loving, and treated every client with immense care.

Al joined Schwabe in 2002 after an already successful career as a software engineer for IBM. While practicing law, he authored patents on many pieces of technology that now surround our daily world.

Al was an admired lawyer and colleague, but; most important, he was a dad, husband, brother, and friend. Al will be dearly missed by all he leaves behind.

The family requests donations to the Thymic Carcinoma Center, a nonprofit Al's daughter helped to form instead of flowers.

Al AuYeung retired in June of 2021, after more than 25 years in legal services. He provided clients with intellectual property counsel reflective of his experience as a software engineer and product manager and was beloved by colleagues and clients alike. Al leveraged his decade-plus of experience as a software engineer and development and product manager‎ to guide his clients on patent prosecution needs while assisting with global innovation protection and cross-border technology transactions. Al counseled clients on overall IP strategy, portfolio development, freedom to operate, design around options, infringement exposure, validity of third party IP, licensing and enforcement.
