Jay Waldron, shareholder in the Portland office of Pacific Northwest regional law firm, Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, has been elected chair of the Board of Directors of Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). Waldron has served on the board for six years.

OHSU provides health care throughout the state and the region. It is Portland’s largest employer, with over 14,000 employees and a budget in excess of $2 billion. Recently, OHSU made national news as a recipient of a $500 million challenge grant from Penny and Phil Knight for cancer research.

At Schwabe, Waldron practices environmental and energy law, siting large facilities and representing clients in trial and appellate courts. He has served as chair of the Port of Portland Commission, and he currently sits on the board of Lewis & Clark College. Waldron received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia.
