Accounts Receivable/Collections Specialist – Portland
The Accounts Receivable/Collections Specialist is responsible for providing quality client experience while working to collect repayment on outstanding account balances. Works in a professional, customer-centric, and high volume environment; taking inbound calls and making outbound calls. The position is also responsible for daily posting of payments. Provides exceptional service while being empathetic when evaluating client situations to provide relevant solutions. Mitigates risk by adhering to all policies and procedures, as well as local, state and federal regulations.
This position will work in a hybrid capacity working 3 days a week in the Portland office.
Responsibilities include:
- Post payments from multiple sources daily
- Research questions regarding payment applications on a timely basis
- Deal directly with clients to recover delinquent payments to enhance timely collection results while preserving client relationships
- Strong interaction with senior management
- Work independently, manage multiple priorities, and work well under pressure
- Identify, analyze, and resolve accounts receivable inventory issues and problems pertaining to aged accounts receivable
- Create, review, and analyze accounts receivable information, track performance and manage processes to meet financial goals
- Learn various technology platforms
- Spreadsheet creation and maintenance
- Assist in developing process improvement checklists and manuals for specific practice areas
- Resolve and appeal issues with reduced e-bills while meeting required deadlines
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Three plus years of experience in accounting, billing, and/or collections
- Efficient multitasking and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical, quantitative, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- High level of organization, accuracy and attention to details

Director of Lawyer Development – Oregon or washington
The Director of Lawyer Development will work collaboratively with firm leadership to further the Firm’s strategic objective of coaching, development, and training lawyers to ensure a smooth integration into the firm. This position is responsible for Associate development and training initiatives and assisting lawyers as they progress in their careers. This position will develop department-specific training programs, ensuring all lawyers have access to the resources, support, and services available to achieve professional growth. The position will assist with the associate evaluation process, lead Associate lawyer mentoring and development and manage the professional development programs and budget. The role will work closely with the CEO to develop and execute on Associate strategic initiatives.
Schwabe offers a hybrid work environment in which this role will be in the office 3 days per week with 2 days of remote work. This role will have occasional travel to other Schwabe offices.
Essential Lawyer Development Functions:
- Coach lawyers by helping them learn the “Schwabe Way”, connect resources, learn best practices, and help build development plans and goals.
- Ability to customize solutions for more effective development.
- Partner with firm leadership to provide feedback and coach the lawyers to be successful.
- Cultivate, implement, and streamline a comprehensive training curriculum across all legal departments, exemplifying the “SchwaBe Way” and improving overall client service, industry focus, firm culture, and reputation.
- In collaboration with firm leadership, develop, implement, and maintain a lawyer competency and development framework to assist lawyers at different career stages.
- Partner with firm leadership and Associates to conduct training needs analysis.
- Continually evaluate and assess all aspects of the professional development program, including analysis of development opportunities, course congruency and consistency, and other training resources to make future recommendations to improve the curriculum.
- Ensure a full but focused array of training and professional development opportunities. Identify speakers, consultants, and coaches for programming.
- Assist with legal education matters by ensuring all lawyers complete bar-mandated continuing legal education. Integrate the Firm’s training program with applicable CLE requirements. Oversee MCLE & PD Specialist on CLE-related activities, ensuring compliance and knowledge of mandatory CLE requirements, including rule updates and changes to serve as a resource to lawyers and legal staff.
- Work with HR, Recruiting, and other departments to develop and execute a comprehensive onboarding and integration processes for Associate lawyers.

Education and Experience:
- 10+ years’ experience coaching and leading people & teams
- Progression in leadership, good decision making and ability to influence is required
- Law firm or professional service background a plus
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

Office Assistant – Anchorage
The Office Assistant will deliver excellent internal and external client service in a pleasant and professional manner. In addition to greeting clients and visitors to the firm, this position requires learning and utilizing computer software, following instructions carefully , and accepting various projects. The Office Assistant will possess high organizational skills; the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure; strong written and oral communication skills; and the ability to communicate interpersonally with everyone professionally. This position offers a great opportunity for growth. It will be in-person in the office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
