How I represent clients at Schwabe

I represent clients in employment disputes spanning administrative complaints, class-action lawsuits, and litigation alleging significant claims of economic and non-economic damages. I also assist clients with general business disputes, from simple contract matters to complex litigation.

Drawing on my experience as an employment litigator, I advise clients on their employment policies and practices by finding creative solutions that not only help them achieve their goals but also mitigate risk.

During law school, I gained valuable insights as a judicial extern at the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon. I deepened my knowledge of appellate practice in a judicial externship at the Oregon Court of Appeals.

Experience

  • Litigated extensive discovery disputes in a contentious sexual harassment case, including through motions to compel and motions to quash.
  • Successfully briefed and argued a motion to dismiss in a case involving numerous employment discrimination and retaliation claims.
  • Assisted with successfully winning summary judgment on religious and medical discrimination claims brought by numerous plaintiffs arising from Oregon’s COVID-19 vaccine requirement.
  • Represented clients in numerous responses to administrative complaints, including before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Oregon’s Bureau of Labor & Industries (BOLI), Washington State Human Rights Commission (WSHRC), and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
  • Won dismissal of a U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) whistleblower-retaliation investigation under the Surface Transportation Assistance Act (STAA) with a finding of no cause.
  • Conducted and defended depositions in a dispute over an oral contract.
  • Achieved favorable settlements for clients in contract disputes, disability discrimination cases, sexual harassment cases, and a wage and hour class action.
  • Assisted in preparing for numerous depositions (including corporate representative depositions) in complex, multi-plaintiff, document-intensive cases related to wildfires.
  • Prepared for trial in complex cases asserting significant claims for wildfire-related damages, including by identifying and interviewing potential witnesses, preparing trial exhibits, and preparing trial testimony.
  • Drafted trial-related motions, including motions in limine in products liability cases.
