With over 14 years of experience, I am a seasoned trial lawyer committed to representing businesses and individuals in a range of legal matters. My practice includes employment disputes, business and shareholder disputes, real estate and construction litigation, contract disputes, and other liability issues.
I enjoy collaborating with clients to craft innovative solutions and practical strategies that achieve favorable outcomes. Known for being responsive and easy to work with, I have tried numerous cases to verdict, and consistently achieved favorable results. I practice in the state and federal courts of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.
Experience
- Obtained a defense verdict in a 7-day federal jury trial, representing an insurance brokerage firm and a newly hired broker against a competitor who alleged contractual interference and violations of non-compete, non-solicit, and confidentiality provisions in an employment agreement. The competing brokerage sought damages that exceeded $10 million.
- Secured dismissal with prejudice of a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of commercial trucking company through successful pretrial motion practice by excluding medical causation expert.
- Won a favorable verdict for a corporate client after a six-day bench trial over a commercial easement dispute.
- Won a verdict in favor of corporate client after a two-day bench trial in a remedial contempt action to enforce an underlying civil judgment.
- Secured a favorable verdict for Class 1 Railroad in multi-week jury trial involving claims brought pursuant to the Federal Employer Liability Act.
- Obtained a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) and Preliminary Injunction, after bench trial, for a construction company against a former shareholder who had violated the company’s shareholder agreement.
- Secured summary judgment for a manufacturing client in a lawsuit that alleged disability discrimination and harassment.
- Secured summary judgment for sports apparel company in a multi-million-dollar product liability lawsuit.
- Won summary judgment for a Class 1 Railroad, securing full indemnity against third-party defendant in litigation related to a defective product and breaches of a supply agreement.
- Won dismissal for corporate client in a case alleging securities fraud and breaches of fiduciary duty.
- Obtained dismissal of a condemnation/eminent domain lawsuit that sought to take property from a national bank.
- Successfully prosecuted to favorable resolution claims for damages and injunctive relief under the Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA) brought on behalf of a technology sales company.
- Obtained full commission owed to commercial real estate broker in litigation over breaches of brokerage agreement.
- Led numerous rapid response and incident/accident investigations focusing on preservation of evidence, early retention of key experts, and proactive case strategy.
