Schwabe's Health Care Attorneys Discuss Risk Management Strategies for Dental Practices
On November 13, 2012, attorneys from Schwabe, Williamson, & Wyatt's Health Care group contributed to the Washington County Dental Society's Conference addressing risk management strategies for dental practices. The presenters included: Kurt Hansen, a Shareholder and health care attorney at Schwabe, Elizabeth A. Schleuning, a Shareholder at Schwabe and accomplished trial attorney and Joyce Y. Wan, an attorney in Schwabe's Labor and Employment practice area and member of the firm's Health Care group.
Approximately 100 people attended the evening event held at the Stockpot Broiler in Beaverton. Mr. Hansen, together with Patrick Braatz, Executive Director of the Oregon State Board of Dentistry and Dr. Paul Kleinstub, Chief Investigator and Dental Director for the Oregon Board of Dentistry, addressed recent trends and cases before the Board of Dentistry. Ms. Schleuning discussed risk management strategies including when PARQ is not enough. Ms. Wan described ways to handle non-compliant patients as well as minor patients. And finally, Christopher Verbiest, Vice-President and General Manager of the Dentists Benefits Insurance Company discussed today's cyber risks and the importance of data protection.
