Garrett Stephenson Brings Land Use/Planning Experience to Schwabe’s Real Estate & Construction Industry Group
Overview
Garrett Stephenson has joined Schwabe’s Real Estate & Construction industry group. Garrett brings experience both as a land use attorney and land use planner, adding depth to Schwabe’s 62-attorney strong Real Estate and Construction team.
“At Schwabe, we strive to offer clients more than just sound legal advice,” said Troy Greenfield, industry group leader for Schwabe’s Real Estate and Construction group. “We aim to be partners in our clients’ business because we care just as much about the issues affecting their industry as they do. That’s why we are adding talent, like Garrett, to our team. His experience in the planning field, having worked both as a planner for a public agency and a private consulting firm, adds depth to our practice and is an added resource for our clients."
Garrett focuses his practice on obtaining entitlements and permit approvals for a wide variety of land development projects in both urban and rural settings. He also provides expertise in detailed land use due diligence analyses, Portland metro area land use regulations, rural zoning, and in negotiations with local governments related to permit exactions, required public improvements, and eminent domain.
Garrett has worked a land use attorney in Portland since 2013. Additionally, he served as a law clerk for the Bonneville Power Administration. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a land use planner in both the public and private sectors, including positions with the City of Salem and Mackenzie, and for the Portland Development Commission.
Garrett graduated cum laude from Lewis and Clark Law School in 2013 and also received a BA in cultural anthropology from Willamette University in 2006.
