Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt is saddened to announce the passing of Thomas Dulcich. Those of us at Schwabe will remember his uncanny wit, commendable work ethic and ability to cut through the noise to focus on the important details of any matter before him. Tom was a true officer of the court, an astute and seasoned practitioner who was devoted to his craft and believed in the difference the legal profession can make for clients.

After graduating from the University of Oregon and the University of Chicago Law School, Tom joined Schwabe, where he built his practice for nearly 38 years.  Tom’s service philosophy, “you will have in your corner a champion for your cause,” was his approach not only to client service, but also to his fellow Schwabe colleagues.  ‎Tom was a member of Schwabe’s Board of Directors and contributed greatly in Schwabe’s transition to a CEO-led organizational structure.

An exemplary trial lawyer, Tom handled well over 200 cases for financial institutions, timber companies, broker-dealers, manufacturers, landowners, investors, retailers, technology firms, insurers, fisheries, churches and non-profits.  He has been recognized by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, and Super Lawyers, and ranked as among the 50 best lawyers in Oregon.  He was also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the invitation-only organization composed of experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality.

Tom contributed to the maritime industry, serving on the Columbia River Maritime Museum Board of Trustees and playing a key role in the museum’s opening in his hometown of Astoria, Oregon.  Tom was an avid recreational angler.  He also held a commercial license and regularly participated in the Lower Columbia River salmon and sturgeon fisheries with his historic wooden gillnet boat.

We were truly honored to associate with Tom Dulcich and to learn from him.  We will feel Tom’s loss across our firm, but we are grateful for his friendship and contributions.  His love for fishing and the Pacific Northwest will be carried on, and with every cast made in this region’s waterways, he will be remembered fondly.
