Delivering legal guidance plus innovative solutions that contribute to our client’s success.
Join us! We’re looking to grow our field of excellent industry-focused lawyers. Lateral lawyers are an integral part of Schwabe’s culture and success. We seek laterals who desire to build long-term client relationships, provide outstanding legal services and be part of the Schwabe Way.
When you join Schwabe as a lateral attorney, we will do everything possible to ensure a smooth and successful transition. Working closely with you, we will develop an individualized integration plan that focuses on your unique strengths and practice development goals. Among other things, we will:
- Facilitate introductions with lawyers in complementary practice areas
- Connect you with a liaison and an advisor
- Provide training in firm technology and practices
- Cross-sell your practice to existing Schwabe clients
- Provide the client service and support you need to retain and expand your current client relationships
- Provide a flexible, hybrid remote, and in-office working environment.
What our attorneys say
“Schwabe is a special place — I cannot even begin to tell you how much my practice and satisfaction with my work improved when I joined the firm. I’ve formed wonderful relationships in just over a year that took years to form elsewhere. The talent team was amazing, supportive, and encouraging throughout my recruiting and onboarding process. The overall support I’ve received at Schwabe has been truly exceptional.”
Schwabe supports attorneys’ professional development goals through firm-paid attendance at Continuing Legal Education (CLE) sessions and conferences, in-house CLE training sessions, advanced legal writing workshops, and practice-specific training.
Our mentor program is designed to provide a Development Advisor (DA) for each new associate and lateral associate joining the firm. The DA program is designed to enhance the career development of our associates, assist the lawyer in learning his/her trade, achieve success at the firm and execute work effectively. Simply stated, the DA is asked to take “ownership” of the lawyer’s success and evaluate the lawyer’s progress on behalf of the firm. DA assignments last for the first three years or longer.
The Associate Integration Committee was established to serve as a buddy, mentor, or confidant to our new lawyers. This relationship is designed to run in tandem with and follow the relationships between the new associates and the many other budding interactions, including Department Heads, Development Advisors, PBAs, Supervising Lawyers, and others to help facilitate integration into the firm.
Schwabe has established an Associate Cabinet to leverage associate insight and to expose the firm’s leadership to diverse perspectives. The AC will determine how to address the identified challenge, including seeking data and input from other lawyers and the AC Shareholder Liaison. The AC will develop leadership skills, foster camaraderie among associates and other lawyers and staff, and provide recommendations addressing challenges directly to the CEO, Board of Directors, Department Heads, Industry Group Leaders, General Counsel, Chiefs, or others as may be appropriate
