Schwabe is excited to announce that Amanda Gamblin has been elected to the firm’s Board of Directors, furthering Schwabe’s commitment to diversity in leadership. Amanda joins fellow attorneys: Graciela Gomez Cowger, Lisa Lowe, Lisa Schaures, and Tom Tongue. Now 80 percent of the firm’s board members are female leaders, far outpacing the Russell 3000, where women hold 20 percent of the board seats.

Amanda is a part of Schwabe’s Real Estate and Construction and Transportation, Ports, and Maritime industry groups, allowing her to offer clients practical legal advice and solutions for the unique employment issues that arise in the construction and maritime industries. Her advice integrates complex and often contradictory legal requirements with the business realities facing a workforce that may be seasonal, transitory, or deployed for extended periods.

I strive to make Schwabe a place where everyone has the opportunity to grow and become a leader, especially women and attorneys of diverse backgrounds,” said Graciela Gomez Cowger, CEO of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt. “Equity and inclusion don’t just happen by chance. Adding Amanda to our Board of Directors not only strengthens our team with a wise voice but also allows us to continue to carry out our vision and create a lasting impact on the legal industry.”

Amanda founded Schwabe’s Women in Business group, which highlights the products and successes of Portland’s women business leaders.

I started my legal career with Schwabe and have been a part of the firm for nearly 20 years,” Amanda said. “I have witnessed our tremendous growth and industry leadership, from transitioning our business model to an industry-focused approach to selecting our first-ever CEO. I am thrilled to be elected to the Board of Directors and look forward to the future with Schwabe.”

Schwabe is comprised of more than 180 lawyers and over 200 staff from diverse backgrounds. The firm is dedicated to leading diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and appreciates the opportunities to do so, both within Schwabe and in the community.
